What is a celebrant?
A celebrant creates and leads your personalised ceremonies, telling your story, with you, uniquely. Each of your special occasions, is valued and celebrated with you and your wishes, be it poems, readings, songs spiritual or significant rituals.
What is the legal status of celebrant led weddings in Great Britain?
Currently, Independent Celebrants cannot legally register a marriage in any part of the UK. This means that couples must still visit a register office or registered location to complete legal formalities, which can lead to some restrictions. The Law Commission has proposed changes to move the focus from this to allow Independent Celebrants to conduct legally binding weddings in the future. The changes are still with Parliament as of August 2026.
Where can I have my ceremony?
Your ceremony can be held in any place and at any time that has meaning for you, be it at home in the garden, a booked venue, an agreed woodland, the beach, or even on the farm. Just remember to book as soon as possible, to ensure you get that special place and time. Sunset weddings are increasingly popular. Please remember that you need to complete the legal process too, to have your marriage registered legally.
Will you travel?
Yes I will! You have a 30-mile radius included as part of your fee, costings after that are at 50p per mile. Anything additional, or at a greater distance can always be discussed at an appropriate time.
How much does a celebrant ceremony cost?
Ceremonies can range in price dependent on organisation and planning allowance, additional rituals and arrangements, time travelled and the length of the ceremony. I want my couples to feel comfortable in their choices and not constrained by financial considerations, so prices start from £500 for smaller intimate weddings, and upwards for additional rituals and requirements.
